Flying Kites

For a family home evening about a month ago we went to the elementary school and flew kites.  It has been very windy here in El Paso which is typical.  What is not typical is the length of time it has been windy and how hard it has been blowing.

So when life gives you lemon's make lemonade, or in our case let's go fly a kite.  Aspyn and Sophy LOVED it!  We were not the only family with the same idea.

Happy Birthday Aspyn

In Utah we would have celebrated birthdays with family.  Since there is no family here our friends and ward neighbors have become family.  Our oldest is now officially four.  Man, time has flown by.  Aspyn is such a good helper and loves stuffed animals and playing with pet shop, horses, polly pocket, and watching movies. Her favorite movie is Tangled. Since pre school down here is well, lets say different, we do our own pre school at home.  She loves it and it is fun one on one time while Sophy is sleeping.  Appy's all time favorite thing to do is to play with Sophy.  I love that they love playing with each other, most of the time.

Aspyn, I love you so much and am so grateful that you are in our family.  You are a spit fire and free spirit.  I struggle learning how to discipline and still not hurt your sensitive spirit.  You bring so much fun and love to our family.  You are the first to push me to my limits and the first to comfort me if you notice something is wrong.  You are an amazing big sister and such a great helper.  You are wonderful at cleaning and cooking.  I love you so much and am grateful for the time that I have with you now and in the future.

Cool things about El Paso

One of the coolest things about being in El Paso is working with and seeing the missionaries.  In Utah the only time you would see the missionaries is when they were either walking down the street and you would honk and they wouldn't even look but just wave with the attitude of "Yea, yea, yea another person honking."  Here are a couple of the missionaries that have served in the area.

When we first moved in there were elders now we have sisters.  One of the sisters even came over for mothers day to chat with her family on skype.  I wish I had that on my mission.  Love, love, love the missionaries.

The other cool thing about Texas is that there is no food tax and the food.  Instead of typical Utah food there are lots and lots of peppers and food from Mexico. There are signs every where that is in spanish.  Check out how big the peppers are!  The food is so bright and colorful.

Aaron's 30th Birthday!!!

We had a great time celebrating Aaron's birthday.  He feels so old turning 30 and I had to keep reminding him that 30 is not that old.  Perspective is all that you need.  I just need to remind myself of this next year when it is my turn.

We love you Daddy!  The girls were so excited to "help" him open his presents. So cute and so much fun.  Aaron is not that fond of cake so we made lemon bars and brownies.  Happy Birthday Love!!!

I Love These Girls

These pictures are of our girls.  I love them SO much!!!
I came into Aspyn's room the other day and I found them playing on her bed.  Words cannot express how amazing it is to see the happiness that they find in playing with each other.  I strongly feel that they will be close even as they grow up.

Silly girls pretending to be asleep.

How can this smile not make you want to smile?

Oh, they bring me joy!!!
