Snuggle/Cuddle Bugs

Every morning Aspyn wakes up between 6:30-6:45ish.  As soon as she wakes up she likes coming in our bedroom and getting in our bed and cuddling with us.  Our kiddo's have never slept in our bed or bedroom unless we were on vacation and they didn't have their own room to sleep in.  This is just what we do and I know that other parents have their own philosophies.  This is just what works for us.

When they have nightmares, we go into their room and say a prayer that Heavenly Father will keep them safe and that He will send angels over them to keep them safe and protected and that they won't have nightmares anymore.  It has worked everytime.

Watching your own kids sleep I think is one of the best things about being a parent.  It gives you the sense of utter peace and an unexplainable happiness.

Cuddling up to Daddy for a Sunday afternoon nap.

She loves her bean bag.

Sun Bathing Beauties

Mom, the sun is bright we can't look up.

I love this cheeser smile!

Aspyn is famous for saying, "I have an idea."

The girls got some sun glasses at Children's Place and were so excited to wear them with their swim suits.  They got dressed in their swim suits and went outside.  They just laid out their towels and then laid on top of them and sat in the sun.  It is so much fun having kids!

Ticks, Ticks and More Ticks

When Aaron's family came down for Easter that was also the begging of other "visitors".  We found a lump on Tally's neck.  I looked and didn't see anything.  Then I looked again and found a little tick that blended in just perfectly with her fur color.

How do you pull out a tick?  Do you know how?  Well, I didn't so my father in law taught me to put Mentholatum all around it to suffocate it.  Wait a couple of minutes then get your tweezers and pull it out slowly.  For the next week she got three more ticks.  That is a total of four.  Two were in the same ear at different times and in different locations.  If you look closely at your dog if they have uncropped ears they have a small flap on the outside of the ear.  One of the ticks started sucking there.  Sneaky little buggers!

You may ask "Well, did you put on her flea, tick, mosquito medication?"  The answer is "YES"!!!  AHHHHHH!!!!!!

Moral of the story is keep a close eye on your pets.  Even if you think you are doing everything right.

You may have a couple of questions.  Did Teva ever get ticks?  The answer is no.  The other question you might have is do we live in boony ville?  The answer is also no.  We live in the city.

Homemade Bread and Cinnamon Rolls

When our family was here visiting us I told my mother in law that I wanted to learn how to make homemade bread.  She told me that she had a recipe and we already had it on hand!  So here are the fruits of our labors.  They were ohh soooo gooood!  Enjoy the pictures.

Doesn't this make your mouth water?

This bread was soooo goood.

Visitors Continued

Out of all the fun play time that we had during the visit I think that by far the girls favorite thing to do was this.

Visitors at Last

It was a while since we have seen anyone from either side of the family.  The girls were so excited to hear that Grandma, Grandpa, Markie and Piper were coming to visit.  Aspyn made a bed for Piper in her room a week before they were going to be here.  Everyday for a week she would ask "Are they here yet?"  Probably stupid to tell her so early in advance but I think it is good for her to look forward to something.  The day that they were here the girls were staring out the window for about half an hour before they got here.  We kept telling them that it was going to still be awhile but they didn't care.  They wanted to wait, and wait and wait!  They were so excited when they got here and they started screaming.  Girls are so funny that way.  Why do we do that?
Looking outside for them to arrive

Can you spot Piper's bed?

Piper and Aspyn had to match each other.

Fun Uncle Markie playing with the girls.

Do you see three little towel monsters?

Dying East Eggs!!!

We had so much fun when they got here!  We also had some funny challenges (ie my car breaking down, the computer acting funny, and something else that I can't remember).  Looking for Easter Eggs that the Easter Bunny hid.
Piper loved looking for eggs in the Jeep.
These are the dresses that Grandma made for everyone of her grandaughters!!!  Thanks Grandma  we love them.  Aspyn loved having Piper to go with her to Primary. What a fun memory.
Just look at those smiles.

Flying Kites

For a family home evening about a month ago we went to the elementary school and flew kites.  It has been very windy here in El Paso which is typical.  What is not typical is the length of time it has been windy and how hard it has been blowing.

So when life gives you lemon's make lemonade, or in our case let's go fly a kite.  Aspyn and Sophy LOVED it!  We were not the only family with the same idea.

Happy Birthday Aspyn

In Utah we would have celebrated birthdays with family.  Since there is no family here our friends and ward neighbors have become family.  Our oldest is now officially four.  Man, time has flown by.  Aspyn is such a good helper and loves stuffed animals and playing with pet shop, horses, polly pocket, and watching movies. Her favorite movie is Tangled. Since pre school down here is well, lets say different, we do our own pre school at home.  She loves it and it is fun one on one time while Sophy is sleeping.  Appy's all time favorite thing to do is to play with Sophy.  I love that they love playing with each other, most of the time.

Aspyn, I love you so much and am so grateful that you are in our family.  You are a spit fire and free spirit.  I struggle learning how to discipline and still not hurt your sensitive spirit.  You bring so much fun and love to our family.  You are the first to push me to my limits and the first to comfort me if you notice something is wrong.  You are an amazing big sister and such a great helper.  You are wonderful at cleaning and cooking.  I love you so much and am grateful for the time that I have with you now and in the future.
